Remedial and Clinical Massage
Remedial massage is a strand of bodywork that offers an hands-on remedial therapy that is rooted in traditional massage techniques. Remedial massage involves the manipulation of soft tissues of the body. A massage practitioner will use such movements as gliding, kneading, pressing and rolling to assist healing and promote uplift and well being. A massage therapist is trained to assess the physical condition to determine the appropriate use of massage techniques and to recognise certain conditions for which massage is contraindicated. Remedial massage therapy is a complementary therapy to and not a substitute for professional medical care.
